Dancing queens and their partners will head to the Saenger Theater in Mobile on April 3.  They can see, hear and feel the ABBA experience.

The ABBA tribute band "MANIA" performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3.  The Saenger is located in the Lower Dauphin Entertainment District (LoDa) in historic downtown Mobile.

Ticket information can be found here.

The Alabama appearance is on the 25th anniversary of MANIA. They have been selling out concerts over the world for a quarter century. Their mission is to recreate the music and optics of ABBA, the most successful group ever from Sweden, and one of the most successful worldwide. MANIA has performed its ABBA tribute in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, France, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom.

In 2002, MANIA played for 18 straight weeks at London’s Strand Theatre. They have toured the United States annually since 2009 with over 400 performances.

The super-sensation band named ABBA is an acronym for the first names of their four musicians (performers): Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny and Anni-Frid.  They are co-inventors of the musical genre Europop, a blend of pop, disco and synthesizer accompaniment.

The group was the basis for the 1999 stage musical "Mamma Mia!" It was made into a film of the same name in 2008 with a sequel in 2018.

Partly because they are well known, partly because the name ABBA contains only four letters, and partly because the name contains two vowels, the term ABBA is a popular answer in word puzzles. Since you have read this, you will start noticing it.

Here is a fascinating bit of musical trivia: ABBA became Sweden’s largest export, outselling Volvo cars.

When MANIA plays ABBA in Mobile, you can expect to be reminded of these ABBA hits:

"Waterloo"

"Ring Ring"

"Mamma Mia"

"Dancing Queen"

ABBA last toured 31 years ago. Your best chance to experience the ABBA sound and show may well be to catch MANIA in Mobile April 3.
