U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) introduced a bill in the House of Representatives Wednesday to help protect the lives of unborn children.

The "Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act" would prohibit tax dollars from being used to fund Planned Parenthood and its affiliates.

"Defending the unborn has been a top priority of mine since I was first elected to Congress, and I will continue to fight for life each and every day," Aderholt said. "I am proud to introduce this bill in the U.S. House and to continue standing for life by ensuring that federal tax dollars are never used to fund organizations such as Planned Parenthood and others like it."

Aderholt said in an X post that the funds would be better spent on "comprehensive, life-affirming care."

Marilyn Musgrave, vice president of government affairs for Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said Aderholt, who serves as chair of the House Values action team, was a "steadfast leader for life."

"The Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act safeguards unborn children and their mothers by preventing federal tax dollars from bankrolling Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion chain — investing these dollars in true health care and services for women rather than the violence of abortion," Musgrave said. "Thank you, Rep. Aderholt, for your work to end taxpayer funding of abortion businesses."

Aderholt recently received an A+ rating on the most recent SBA Pro-Life America scorecard, along with the rest of Alabama's Republican delegation.
