OZARK — Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall has once again said he is considering a potential run for the U.S. Senate if the seat becomes available.

Marshall said in his speech to the Dale County GOP on Monday, "I've been pretty public that I didn't want to run for governor. I really believe in this idea that God puts passion and purpose together, and it just wasn't for me."

Marshall admitted he had initially planned to step away from politics before U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) expressed interest in running for governor.

Marshall stated, "If Coach Tuberville runs for governor, I'll look at the Senate race, and we'll make a decision there pretty quickly. It's a little more consistent with the things that I've been doing that I enjoy being able to be a voice for Alabama on, but I'll say this: If I walk out on January 27' and that's the last job that I've had politically, then I'm a lucky guy."

Marshall's comments come as multiple statewide races are open in 2026, including for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and potentially U.S. Senate, should Tuberville opt for a gubernatorial bid over re-election.
