A one-cent reduction in the grocery sales tax will take effect on Monday.

House Bill 386 by State Rep. Danny Garrett (R-Trussville) cut the state's grocery tax by an additional 1% in the 2025 session. The bill was signed into law by Governor Kay Ivey in May.

The cut brings the total reduction on the state sales tax on groceries from 4% down to 2% since 2023.
