The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) has announced the candidate qualifying dates for the special election in State House District 11 for those wanting to pursue the seat on the Republican ticket.
The District 11 seat went up for grabs after former State Rep. and House Majority Whip Randall Shedd (R-Fairview) vacated his seat to join the staff of new State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman).
Gov. Kay Ivey released a special proclamation on Monday, setting the special primary election for Tuesday, May 13. The special primary runoff, if necessary, is set for Tuesday, June 10, and the special general election for Tuesday, August 26.
On Friday, ALGOP announced that qualifying will begin on Wednesday, March 5. at 8:30 a.m. and close on Tuesday, March 11 at 5:00 p.m. Those interested in running for the Republican nomination may qualify online.
