ProgressPAC, the political arm of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA), announced on Tuesday its endorsement of Caroleene Dobson in her campaign for the Republican nomination for Secretary of State in 2026.
Dobson seeks to replace Secretary of State Wes Allen, who is running for lieutenant governor.
"Caroleene Dobson understands the needs of hardworking Alabamians and the businesses that drive our economy," ProgressPAC chairman Gary Smith said in a statement. "She has the intellect and experience to ensure fair and secure elections, but equally important – she will be a staunch advocate for business owners across Alabama by safeguarding business filings, reducing bureaucratic red tape, and upholding transparency and accountability."
In a BCA press release, the organization cited Dobson's legal background and service on the Alabama Forestry Commission as giving her a unique perspective.
"Caroleene brings a unique combination of legal expertise, rural values, and a heart for public service," said Helena Duncan, president and CEO of BCA. "She is exactly the kind of leader Alabama needs in the Secretary of State's office —someone who will not only uphold the integrity of our elections but also modernize and strengthen the office's support for businesses, of all sizes, across the state."
