ProgressPAC, a political arm of the Business Council of Alabama (BCA), has recently had to broadcast a retraction for an attack on Mo Brooks, walking back accusations that the former congressman was guilty of "insider stock trading."
Brooks currently faces incumbent House District 20 State Rep. James Lomax (R-Huntsville) in the May 19 Republican primary, and the pair have not been shy about trading barbs over the other's record.

While Lomax has the lion's share of endorsements from state's power players, one of the state's largest has recently had to retract its claws.
An ad sponsored by ProgressPac on the radio accused Brooks of violating the "Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act," which prohibits members of Congress from using non-public information for personal financial gain. Now, after pressure from the Brooks campaign, ProgressPac is airing a retraction of that claim on the same station that aired the initial ad.
"A previous ad said, 'Mo Brooks engaged in Congressional insider stock trading,'" the retraction states. "Mo says that's false because he doesn't personally trade stocks or share inside information with those who do it for him. So, we withdraw that language.
