Republican nominee for Alabama's second congressional district Caroleene Dobson said she is thankful for her former opponent, former State Sen. Dick Brewbaker's (R-Montgomery) support and friendship.

The two joined Joey Clark on "News & Views" on News Talk 93.1 to show they are coming together for the general election.

Dobson thanked Brewbaker for his public service and the wisdom he imparted to her during her tough battle against Democratic nominee Shomari Figures in the newly drawn congressional district.

Brewbaker predicted that Republicans would win if everyone got out to vote. He warned that a lack of voters could be disastrous for the party and said the stakes could not be higher.

"I'm not the first one to say this, but when the Democrats took Biden off the ballot, in a questionable move of questionable legality, they flipped the script," he said. "I mean, Trump went from the more dynamic, facing a very befuddled, older democrat opponent, to now he's the older guy."

"So, Kamala has been allowed to reinvent herself because the press won't ask her any questions, and so, she's younger, she's out there at the DNC talking about how much she loves America," Brewbaker continued. "And Trump needs to show the American people that if there's a reason to be optimistic as an American right now, it's because we have a chance to elect Republicans like Donald Trump and like Caroline to the Presidency and to Congress."

The former state senator pointed out that the seat is crucial because it could impact GOP control in Washington.

"The last time the Democrats did that, we got Obamacare, and we still haven't recovered from that," Brewbaker said. "You know, what other parts of the economy is the government going to take over if they have a two-year window of unfettered power to destroy the Constitution, to destroy the economy, to destroy checks and balances."

"I mean, it's nightmarish," he continued. "So, we've got to win these competitive congressional seats, and the candidate is Caroleene Dobson."

Brewbaker said Republicans cannot come up with excuses not to get out and vote.

"If you're going to be out of town, go get an absentee ballot," he added. "You cannot sit this one out."

Dobson thanked him for his support.

"I am so, so grateful and appreciative of your endorsement," Dobson said to Brewbaker. "That truly means the world."

Dobson said her team is still working the district to get voters involved by door-knocking, displaying yard signs, and planning to work the polls and volunteer on election day.
