It's a long way from Birmingham, England to Birmingham, Alabama. That's just about the trip guitarist Matt Schofield plans to make on March 9 as he performs in nearby Columbiana in Shelby County.
Schofield has been on tour in the U.S., and his Alabama stop will be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 9 at the Song Theater.

In Schofield, the UK has produced the best Blues guitarist from any country in decades… head and shoulders above the herd’, while Guitar & Bass Magazine rated him in the top ten British blues guitarists of all time ranking him with icons Eric Clapton and Peter Green. Matt is the British Blues Awards Guitarist of the Year 2010, 2011, 2012 which garnered him an induction into the British Blues Hall of Fame.
Schofield is on tour in the U.S. from the U.K. He is an inductee into the British Blues Hall of Fame. He has been making his mark globally as one of the top players of blues guitar.
Think of a combination of Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King and Muscle Shoals' Travis Wammack. And maybe add in Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix. Expect a lot of guitar pickers and wannabes to be in the audience to witness Schofield. Sort of like the piano players who always turned out to hear and watch Liberace.
After the Alabama show, Schofield performs three shows in Florida before jumping back across the Atlantic for continental European shows in the Netherlands, Austria and the Czech Republic. Here are his touring dates and venues:
