Dobson announced last week she was entering the race to be Alabama’s next Secretary of State. Dobson joins State Auditor Andrew Sorrell in the Republican primary race to be Alabama's next Secretary of State. Current Secretary of State Wes Allen is running for lieutenant governor in 2026. Primary elections are scheduled for May 19, 2026.

A native of Beatrice, Dobson, an attorney with Maynard Nexsen in Montgomery, was born and raised on her family's farm in Monroe County. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and graduated from the Baylor University School of Law. Dobson lost to U.S. Rep.
