As Republican lawmakers in Washington, D.C. are scrambling to force the Biden administration to stem the flow of illegal migration across the southern border into the United States, second congressional district GOP candidate Caroleene Dobson is running on a message of reversing that tide.

During an appearance on Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," Dobson called for a return to Trump-era policies and for the United States to exercise its deportation authority.

"We are being invaded, let's face it," she said. "And I think that's becoming more apparent to everyone in the United States. But we've got illegals flooding across the border. We've got to go back to Trump-era policies. We've got to send everyone home — catch and deport, not catch and release. We've got to continue building the wall. And we have so much technology these days, too. So, it has got to be a wall and there's got to be smart components to that barrier. We've got to enforce the 'stay in Mexico' policy."

"And I think growing up on a farm, early on it is like nip it in the bud," Dobson continued. "Get to the root of the problem. And I think for too long, we've been kind of putting a band-aid on the border. We've also got to have more developed foreign policy with our neighbors to the south. We cannot continue to be a repository for all the failed governments in Central and South America. I feel for these people who want a better life and these folks who are coming from horrible conditions in Guatemala and points further south."

"But we've got to hold Mexico responsible for its cartel culture," she added. "And I think we've got to say, 'Look, America does not exist just to hold refugees.'"
