Today's youth stands at a moral crossroads, and the decisions they make today will likely determine the path of culture and politics for years to come.
Bryan Dawson, host of "1819 News: The Podcast," participated in a recent outdoor debate at the University of Montevallo, where he argued why they should choose Christ over chaos.
The "Prove me wrong" event was part of Turning Point USA's (TPUSA) Pick Up the Mic initiative. In a similar fashion to the late TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk's "Change My Mind" discussions, Dawson sat at a table on the college lawn while students asked him questions and challenged him on a variety of subjects related to the topic of "Christ or Chaos?"
"My topic, Christ or Chaos… is the idea that God created everything to have order, and when we live and govern and create laws that are in harmony with the way that God has created everything, we have a society that flourishes," Dawson began. "But Western civilization was built in harmony with the way that God created everything, OK? So when we make laws, and we govern, we want to govern the way that God tells us to govern in His word, but also in natural law; you can look and see how He created things."
He continued, "And so when we do that, there's flourishing, which is what Western civilization has been for a very long time. But the last 50, 70, 100 years in the United States of America and in Europe, we've abandoned these things, we've abandoned God, we've abandoned Christ as King, and we begin to govern in a way that is the complete opposite of that. We've essentially, as a culture and a civilization, we've gone to war with God, and we're reaping the benefits of it, which is why you're seeing the problems that you see."
Students challenged Dawson on abortion, foreign policy, the Iran conflict and his personal beliefs on race and homosexuality. He argued that secular society's view on these topics is leading today's youth and the rest of the world to destruction.
"We are living in a society, in a country, in a nation, in a civilization that has fallen for this idea of toxic empathy, suicidal empathy," he said. "And there's hard truths, the way that God created things. And if we don't get back to looking at those things and living in accordance with those things and harmony with those things, our civilization is going to fall apart. And if you do those things, you're going to be called a racist, you're going to be called a fascist, you're going to be called a white supremacist… If you resist the Bolshevik Marxist left, they will label you a fascist. They will label you a fascist. And the point of labeling you as a fascist is so that they can kill you like they did Charlie."
