District 1 congressional candidates have been invited to participate in two separate forums in February to give south and east Baldwin County citizens a chance to hear their platforms.

The Eastern Shore Republican Women are holding a candidate forum during its monthly lunch meeting on February 8.

The lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Fairhope Yacht Club and U.S. Reps. Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) and Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) will each speak for 15 minutes.

Those who are interested in attending are asked to RSVP at www.ESRW.org.

The Baldwin County Conservative Coalition is also hosting a congressional candidate forum on February 19 in Orange Beach.

Moore has confirmed he will be in attendance, along with Baldwin County Circuit Clerk candidates. It is unclear if Carl will be able to join.

"Baldwin County is something over one-third of Republican registered voters in AL-1, so it is really important for them to get the opportunity to meet these candidates," said organizer Robert Monk.

Monk said the forum will allow Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Foley citizens to hear from the candidates and ask questions.

"It will give residents, specifically on the island, a chance to meet Mr. Moore, find out who he is as a person and ask political questions," Monk said. "A lot of the people who are registered Republicans on the island are retirees; they're conservative, but they're not active in local politics. So, this is an opportunity to get involved."

The event will be held at the Orange Beach Community Center, starting at 5:30 p.m.
