A $60,000 media booking contract to secure more television, radio and podcast appearances for Mayor Steven Reed is about "promoting the good things about our city," according to Reed.
According to a contract between the City of Montgomery and guestbooker.com, as reported by 1819 News on Thursday, the City of Montgomery recently began paying the booking site $5,000 per month to place Reed on television, radio and podcasts.
The annual $60,000 contract began in June 2024.
Reed said in a response on X on Thursday, "Just heard some outlet is lying about a contract the city has for public relations."
"Tries to make it about me. Wrong. We are always promoting the good things about our city because our opponents work so hard to highlight the bad," Reed said.
Since June 2024, Reed has appeared on multiple national television shows as a surrogate for former Vice President Kamala Harris' failed 2024 presidential bid. He has also criticized Trump in numerous appearances, while rarely mentioning Montgomery.
