Do you like to eat out in restaurants? Do you like to go and see movies in theaters? Are you pressed for time to do all those things you enjoy?

There's a new way to combine those two recreational activities. The new trend is "Dine-in theaters."

We are used to hearing the term "Drive-in theaters," although they are not as common as in the 1950s. In fact, they have become quite rare.

After World War II, as automobiles had become ubiquitous, movies began branching out from inside theaters into outdoor theaters. A romantic couple, a family or a rowdy group of teenagers could load up in the car and enjoy the drive-in experience. Some actually watched the movie of the night. Some didn't. Some sneaked in.

The online entertainment guide, Mashed, now spotlights a dine-in theater in Alabama, Nexus Cinema Dining in Mobile.

Mashed's take on Nexus reads as follows:

“Nexus Cinema Dining brings Alabamians the best in combined dining and film viewing services, with a full menu and a super sweet system that lets you order and pay via iPad from the comfort of your reclining seat. With Dolby Atmos providing an immersive sound experience and 4K video laser projection for pristine resolution, there's nothing missing here but the applause.”

Nexus' full-service menu is available here.

Appetizers, steak, seafood, sandwiches, wraps, desserts, homemade cheesecake, homemade key lime pie, milkshakes. FAR beyond popcorn and candy bars, although those are still requested and thus available. Some folks insist on popcorn with their movie.

Features coming soon include "Ordinary Angels," "Dune Part Two," "Kung Fu Panda 4," "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" and "Monkey Man."

You can always see coming attractions at Coming Soon to Nexus Cinema Dining

You can eat your dinner in your lap in a luxury reclining seat, or you can reserve table seating.

See you at the dine-in.
