During a Thursday appearance on Real America's Voice's "Bannon's War Room," U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) sounded off about the bipartisan border security deal that's emerging in the U.S. Senate.

The proposed package would be added to the White House’s national security emergency spending request, which includes aid for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the U.S.-Mexico border.

According to Tuberville, "the American people are being held hostage for our border bill" by the Republican leadership.

"It's about extortion of the taxpayers of this country," Tuberville declared. "You know, they want more and more money to fund Ukraine. I've not voted for a dime. I've been over there, talked with [President Volodymyr Zelenskyy], talked with their generals — it's like a junior high playing an NFL team in football. They don't have the people. You know, we've pushed NATO on Russia. Joe Biden, his regime, is trying to continue to push NATO East. I'm not for [President Vladimir Putin]. I'm for Ukraine, but if you're pushing NATO on my borders, I'd be fighting back, too. So, the process that we're going through right now is the American people are being held hostage for our border bill."

"[I] think we've pretty much been held hostage by the Republican leadership," he added. "Republican leadership pushed this on us, and now if we don't pass something, we're going to look bad in the eyes of the American people."

Tuberville emphasized that President Joe Biden didn't need to create a new border policy when former President Donald Trump's remain-in-Mexico policy was successful at controlling the border.

"We do not need a border policy. We already have one intact," he outlined. "Just go for the damn laws."
