Crab apple, redbud, white dogwood, American hornbeam, red maple, persimmon, tulip-poplar and Scarlet Oak.

Those are the varieties of tree seedlings that will be given out free this Saturday.

The occasion is Arbor Day. The venue is Langan Park in Mobile.

The time is 9 a.m. Saturday until the trees are given away. First-come, first-served.

The tree giveaway is an annual event by the City of Mobile.

Langan Park, also known as Municipal Park, is in the western part of the Spring Hill section of Mobile. It is near the juncture of Springhill Avenue and Zeigler Blvd.

Many other communities in Alabama held Arbor Day events and tree giveaways earlier in February.

Information on Arbor Day events in the future throughout Alabama can be found here.
