During a Wednesday call with reporters, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) predicted a good outcome with the ongoing effort to get Space Command headquarters back in Alabama.

In January 2021, the Secretary of the Air Force chose Huntsville's Redstone Arsenal as the top choice for the Space Command headquarters. The recommendation for the site was then affirmed by the Inspector General's Office and the Government Accountability Office, both of which found that the Air Force had conducted an accurate analysis and Huntsville was the superior location.

But on July 31, 2023, President Joe Biden reversed the decision to locate Space Command headquarters in Huntsville and instead selected a location in Colorado.

Tuberville said he recently met with President Donald Trump and felt good after the conversation about Space Command's return to Huntsville.

"We're still working on it," Tuberville stated. "It'll pop up one day."

"I feel very good about it. I've told everybody this: Nothing is ever a sinch to make it happen, but I had a recent two-hour breakfast with President Trump. I felt good after that breakfast with him I think it was last Friday. ... So, we'll let him work through all of these details, and I think one day we're going to have a very happy ending with all of this."
