During a packed event at Regions Field in Birmingham, Katherine Robertson formally announced her candidacy for Alabama attorney general with the support of Attorney General Steve Marshall, who introduced her, saying, "Please help me welcome Alabama's next Attorney General, Katherine Robertson."
"Alabama needs a proven fighter who will harness the power of the Attorney General's office to protect our communities and uphold our values," Robertson said during her announcement speech. "I believe the first civil right of every Alabamian is to live free from the fear of violence. As Attorney General, I will ensure violent offenders, including those in our country illegally, do not roam freely, and law enforcement will always know I have their back."
In a written release, Robertson emphasized her experience, having served as chief counsel to Marshall for nearly a decade and previously worked at the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as legislative counsel to Senator Jeff Sessions.

A native of Dallas County and graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law, Robertson has worked with the AG's office since 2016 after serving as vice president of the Alabama Policy Institute.
Robertson described herself in her release as a "steadfast ally of President Trump, defending election integrity in 2024 and fighting federal overreach to advance his agenda of law and order, border security, and state sovereignty."
"On my watch, the whims of the fanatical left will never make inroads in Alabama," explained Robertson in her speech. "The woke mob won't be able to tell us a boy can play girls sports, and we will continue to ensure that George Soros never gains a foothold in our criminal justice system."
The Alabama Republican Primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026. Other Republican candidates who have already announced are former Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Jay Mitchell and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey.
