When conservatives commit some minor infraction or technicality, they get investigated immediately. But it often seems like liberal politicians and groups can break the rules without consequences.

Consider the issue of the Democrat’s main fundraising platform, ActBlue. These kinds of platforms rarely face tough scrutiny – even when serious questions are raised about their practices.

That’s why President Trump’s call for an investigation into ActBlue is not just right, it’s long overdue.

Over the last few elections, ActBlue has raised billions of dollars for Democrat candidates and far-left groups. News reports show that ActBlue may have used people’s names without their permission to boost donations – possibly breaking federal election laws.

Many people – especially older Americans – had donations listed under their names even though they didn’t actually donate. Some were listed as making dozens or even hundreds of small donations in a short time.

Research by election integrity expert Dominic Rapini helped shine a light on this problem. If it’s true that people’s names and addresses were used to make donations they didn’t know about, then this is not just wrong, it’s against the law.

If these individuals never authorized a donation – and no money left their bank accounts or was charged to their credit cards – who actually funded these transactions? Are we looking at coordinated fraud, money laundering, foreign interference, or criminal activity that could trigger RICO charges? These aren’t minor concerns – they strike at the very core of election integrity.

If Americans are having their personal information and identities used without their knowledge to make political donations they never agreed to, that is a direct attack on our Republic.

There are also big concerns about how ActBlue processes donations. Small-dollar donations are harder to track. They don’t trigger the same strict FCC reporting rules. That makes it easier to hide where the money is really coming from. A platform like ActBlue could be used to sneak foreign money into U.S. elections – which is illegal.

It has been reported that seven ActBlue senior officials have quietly resigned, a move that raises even more concern. If nothing wrong occurred, why the sudden departures?

Because it’s ActBlue, many in the media and government pretend not to notice. They hope Americans stay distracted and don’t ask questions. Thanks to Trump’s call for action, hearings and subpoenas are on the way.

Critics will claim that Trump is calling for this investigation as a form of political retaliation. But that misses the point. Even if you don’t like Trump, you should still want any group accused of wrongdoing – especially in elections – to be fully investigated.

If this were happening on the Republican Party’s online fundraising platform, WinRed, the media would be in full-blown crisis mode – wall-to-wall coverage, congressional hearings, and calls for criminal investigations. Every TV station would lead with the story.

To be fair, the Republican Party’s online donation platform, WinRed, should also be investigated to see if anything wrong is happening there. If there's wrongdoing or shady practices happening on either side, the American people deserve to know.

Election integrity is not a partisan issue – it's an important American value.

We cannot allow billion-dollar organizations to operate in the dark.

We cannot allow the misuse of people’s names and identities.

No matter if you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, or anything else – you should care about fair elections.

If ActBlue did nothing wrong, a full investigation will clear them. But if they broke the law, they must be held accountable – just like anyone else.

"Find out just what any people will quietly submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them," Frederick Douglass wisely said.

When people stay quiet about injustice, they're not just neutral – they're allowing the problem to grow. If no one speaks up, those doing wrong will push even further because they know no one will stop them. If we don’t demand accountability, corruption and abuse will grow.

Trump is right – it’s time for a full investigation into ActBlue.
