Just months before the 2024 election, billionaire George Soros gained significant influence over more than 200 radio stations owned by Audacy Inc., spanning 27 states and 45 cities – including major markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
This development followed Audacy’s bankruptcy and financial restructuring, during which Soros Fund Management acquired about $400 million of Audacy’s debt, making it the largest lender and, subsequently, the largest shareholder in the restructured company.
In a highly unusual move, the Biden administration and the FCC fast-tracked the deal, bypassing the standard public review process and national security vetting. What typically takes a year or more was rushed through in just a few short weeks.
Some say this move broke the rules, especially the limits on foreign ownership. FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr and members of Congress called the deal “unprecedented” and “dangerous.” Now, the House Oversight Committee is investigating.
At first, this may seem like just another business deal. But from a Frederick Douglass Republican point of view, it’s a wake-up call about the fight for the American mind.
When Douglass escaped slavery, he didn’t stay silent – he spoke up for truth. He started a newspaper and gave powerful speeches because he knew something important: whoever controls the message can shape how people think.
Soros isn’t just rich – he’s a political activist with a radical vision for America. He supports open borders, weak police, and global ideas that go against faith, family and freedom. This is not just about radio. It’s about influence. It’s about the truth. And it’s about freedom.
Soros understands what Douglass understood: the message matters. If you control what people hear every day – especially in communities that are often ignored or in swing states – you can shape how they think, live and vote.
We’ve seen this before. Look at how mainstream media spreads fear, filters the truth, and silences different opinions. Soros isn’t investing in radio because he loves music – he’s doing it because radio is a powerful tool to influence culture and politics.
This is a dangerous move – not just because of who’s buying the stations, but because of the reasons behind it.
Douglass believed in the power of free speech, independent thinking, and clear moral values. He fought to give people the truth, not push a one-sided story. Soros and others like him use the media to push ideas that weaken personal responsibility, ignore faith, and promote a victim mindset.
Radio is still one of the most trusted sources of information in many communities. That’s why Soros wants it. And that’s why Americans who care about liberty should be worried.
Here’s the good news: Just like in Douglass’ time, the truth still has power – and it only takes a few brave voices to make a real difference.
We can’t just sit back and let one way of thinking control the airwaves. We need to create, support and promote media platforms that speak the truth clearly and boldly. That’s why it’s so important for conservatives – especially black and Hispanic conservatives – to step up, speak out, and invest in platforms that reflect our values.
The Frederick Douglass Republican® Engagement Strategy is the game-changer.
Instead of reacting to Soros’ messages with anger or silence, this strategy focuses on truth and wins with strong values. It takes the timeless principles of Frederick Douglass – respect for life, liberty, personal responsibility, limited government power, and economic prosperity, just to name a few – in a way that is relevant and grounded in moral values.
The Soros machine feeds on division, dependency, and identity politics. The Frederick Douglass Republican Engagement Strategy fights that by focusing on what brings us together: faith, family, hard work, and freedom. It speaks to the heart first, then the mind. It invites conversations, not confrontations. It inspires, not manipulates.
This strategy doesn’t just talk at people – it connects with them. It uses Douglass’ own words and his story – a man who went from slavery to prosperity – to show that America still works when you stand on the right principles. That message directly challenges the hopelessness and dependency that Soros-backed programming often promotes.
Douglass didn’t wait for permission to speak. He didn’t ask the slave master for a platform – he made his own. We need to do the same. Whether it’s starting podcasts, buying local radio time, creating YouTube channels, or supporting independent news, we must fight for the heart of our culture – one message at a time.
This is an area where I’ve fallen short – but that changes now. I’ll be launching a podcast within the next 30-45 days to join the fight for truth and freedom. I’ll keep you updated.
We also need to teach the next generation how to think for themselves. Don’t just accept everything you hear coming through your speakers. Ask questions: Who’s behind this message? What’s their goal? Does it lead me toward freedom – or control?
“Don’t just believe everything I say,” I often tell my 14-year-old son.
“Dad, does that mean you’re going to lie to me?” he asks.
“No, son,” I smile. “It means you should always think critically and ask questions – even when the information comes from me. That’s how you learn, grow, and become a strong thinker.”
Soros may have money, but we have the truth. And when truth is spoken with boldness, it cuts through all the noise.
Let’s not allow our communities to be bought and brainwashed. Let’s protect the airwaves the same way Douglass protected freedom – with courage, strong beliefs, and a deep love for truth. Because in the end, this isn’t just about radio. It’s about who gets to shape the story of America and whether liberty will still be heard.
So let’s rise up like Frederick Douglass did. Let’s speak truth, stand strong, and make sure our voices – and our values – are heard loud and clear.
