The man charged in the 2019 crash that took the life of the voice of the Auburn Tigers Rod Bramblett and his wife Paula pleaded guilty last week to child porn charges.

Johnston Edward Taylor was sentenced in 2021 on charges of involuntary manslaughter resulting from the deadly crash. Reports indicate Taylor was driving 89 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone on Shug Jordan Parkway in Auburn. He slammed into the Brambletts as they were stopped at a traffic light.

Both of the Brambletts were airlifted to the hospital. There, officials pronounced Paula dead, and Rod died from a closed head injury.

Because Taylor was only 16 at the time and obtained youthful defender status, sentencing records in the manslaughter case were sealed.

In June 2022, Taylor received more charges, this time with six counts of possession of child pornography. Lee County District Judge Russell Bush revoked his bond earlier this year after he failed a drug test.

According to reports, Taylor pleaded guilty last summer to using synthetic urine to pass another drug test.

Taylor’s plea deal last week is for three counts of child porn, despite originally possessing six charges. His hearing will take place on January 3, 2024.
