Spiro Cheriogotis has put his name in the hat for mayor of Mobile.

The former district judge in Mobile County’s 13th Judicial Circuit Court said he resigned Monday to focus on his campaign.

“I'm running for Mayor to ensure Mobile remains a vibrant, thriving city for generations to come,” Cheriogotis stated on his campaign page. “With a proven record of service, deep community ties, and a passion for making Mobile the best it can be, I'm ready to lead with integrity, vision, and heart.”

Cheriogotis said he took time to consider his choice, but in the end, he wants the best for his four kids. He said he can do more as mayor than he can as a judge. He added that he wants to make Mobile the best place to live, work and play.

Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson has also announced her run for mayor.

Several other candidates are rumored to be considering a run. The deadline to announce to run for mayor in the 2025 municipal election is June 10.
