A Mobile County Public School System (MCPSS) English as a second language (ESL) employee sent an internal email to school staff on Monday giving a “to-do list” to shield students from potential U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

Reports of ICE raids and deportations of illegal aliens have increased nationwide since President Donald Trump took office last week. Trump ended a policy that barred federal agents from making immigration arrests at locations like churches, hospitals and schools. The Migration Policy Institute estimates there are 733,000 school-aged illegal alien children in the United States.

According to WKRG, an internal MCPSS email from “KP- the RIZZ, Mother of Exiles” was sent to MCPSS staff on Monday advising them to “text me on my cell if ICE shows up anywhere closeby.”

“For now, MCPSS is still a safe place for our children, so encourage families to consider that option to their comfort level. Please let them know that they will not be penalized for keeping their children home as a precaution,” the MCPSS employee said in the email.

An MCPSS official denied the email was the official policy of the school system.

Assistant superintendent Terrence Mixon told the outlet the email was sent “without approval and without seeking guidance from the MCPSS Leadership Team.”

“We apologize for any misunderstanding or misconceptions that have been caused by the email this morning, which was not approved and is officially rescinded,” Mixon said.
