Kamala Harris surrogate Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed recently appeared on News Nation to criticize former President Donald Trump for a Saturday innuendo regarding the late, great golfer Arnold Palmer’s masculine endowment, saying it was “unbecoming of the office.”
At a Saturday rally in Latrobe, Pa., Palmer’s hometown, Trump briefly described the late golfer’s perceived masculine prowess, hinting at the rumored dimensions of Palmer’s manhood.
“Arnold Palmer was all man, and I say that in all due respect to women, and I love women, but this guy, this guy, this is a guy that was all man,” Trump said. “This man was strong and tough, and I refuse to say it, but when he took showers with the other pros, they came out of there, they said, 'Oh my god, that's unbelievable.' I had to say it.”
Predictably, media across the nation lit up with swift condemnation of Trump’s comments, with accusations ranging from “lewd” to “profane.”
Joining the chorus was Reed, the man caught on leaked audio making disparaging comments on the black vote and much more prior to his landslide mayoral victory last year.
In his appearance on News Nation's “Dan Abrams Live,” Reed called Trump’s comments “unbecoming” of the office of president and said it was reason to question the former president's mental faculties.
“I think that Donald Trump gets a pass,” Reed said. "He gets to entertain while we ask Vice President Kamala Harris to explain, and I don’t think that those two things are equally balanced. And I think that when you have a former president talking about things of that nature, not only is it unbecoming of the office, it’s really unbecoming of what matters to everyday Americans. Look, I’ve been in locker rooms for many, many years, and we always say, ‘A man got to have a code.’ So, some things you don’t talk about, alright. So I don’t understand how that comes into anyone’s mind unless they are mentally slipping unless they don’t have anything substantive to add and to discuss, or why that would be the analogy that one would use unless you’re someone like Donald Trump."
He continued, "And I don’t think that the media should allow him to get away with it, because we would not only not allow President Biden not to get away with it, we wouldn’t allow Vice President Kamala Harris to get away with it. So it is purely fair game to understand, one, his mental acuity and whether or not he has the real mental sharpness to continue to do this job for the next four years."
