Mayor Steven Reed announced on Friday night his chief of staff, Chip Hill, is resigning and stepping down from his position at the end of September.
Hill worked with Reed for several years on both election campaigns and as his chief of staff since 2020.
“Chip Hill’s leadership as Chief of Staff has been instrumental in guiding us through some of our most challenging times,” Reed said. “I am excited for him and his family as he embarks on this new chapter in the private sector.”
Montgomery Chief Operating Officer Jerime Reid will replace Hill as chief of staff on October 1.
“There is always a right time to pass the torch. Colonel Jerime Reid will do an amazing job as the Mayor’s new Chief of Staff. He and I work very well together, and we have a busy month of transition ahead of us. I return to run my firm - targeting a couple of key issues. There are some immediate political activities of consequence that I have been asked to participate in plan to engage in. For Montgomery to reach her potential, there is much work to be done in some key areas and I want to be a part of it,” Hill said.
