First Baptist Fairhope is offering a viewing of the movie "In His Image" Friday evening to clarify confusing social issues, including transgender and gender ideologies.

The church is hosting Christian Worldview Movie Night on the eve of Pride Month, which starts June 1.

Lead pastor Dr. Eric Hankins told 1819 News issues relating to the LGBTQ community can be sensitive but it is the church's job to spread the truth.

"It has always been the responsibility of the church to speak the truth in love when the culture becomes confused," Hankins said. "Events like Pride Month advocate a gender ideology that is simply untrue, and lying to people hurts them. We are showing the movie, 'In His Image,' to offer the truth about gender and sexuality to the teenagers and adults of our community because truth doesn't condemn people; it sets them free."

The Color Fairhope with Pride Festival will be held on Saturday at South Beach Park. A drag brunch will be held at the Fairhope Civic Center on June 15. A group of conservative Christians plans to have a worship and prayer gathering at Utopia Park on Saturday ahead of the festival.

"In His Image" is a documentary that explains gender issues and offers clarity with compassion and scientific evidence. Parents, grandparents and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend the free movie viewing.

The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the church's Worship Center. Preschool childcare will be offered, and older kids can participate in activities in the arena.
