An Irondale man charged with placing a bomb in front of the Alabama Attorney General’s Office in February changed his plea to guilty on Friday.

Kyle Benjamin Douglas Calvert, 26, was arrested in February after a coffee container-like vessel containing insulation material soaked in a lighter fluid, a mortar, firecrackers and nails was discovered outside the Alabama Attorney General’s Office.

Calvert originally pleaded not guilty in April to two felony counts of malicious damage by explosives and one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device. No one was injured when the bomb detonated.

Investigators connected Calvert to the crime after discovering stickers he placed on buildings near the scene. The stickers depicted far-left terrorist sympathies, such as “Support your local antifa.”

No sentencing hearing has been scheduled yet.
