Pilgrim’s Pride will no longer be running charter buses to transport workers, according to State Sen. Wes Kitchens (R-Arab).

The buses have been causing a stir among Marshall County residents after being seen dropping off what appeared to be Haitian migrants around town at odd hours. 1819 News was the first to report on the issue after seeing a large public outcry online.

Pilgrim's told 1819 News the buses were being used to transport employees to and from its recently expanded plant in Russellville. Kitchens later confirmed that the service would be discontinued.

“I have reached out to the poultry processing companies and have been assured the charter busses will no longer be running,” Kitchen said in a post on X.

“I have been in contact with our federal delegation relaying concerns and have requested they join local officials for a meeting in Marshall County,” he continued. “Since this issue is not new to Marshall County, Sheriff Sims and I had previously arranged a meeting with Texas Board Patrol which will occur in the coming weeks to continue discussions on improving this crisis from the local and state level.”

Kitchens also penned a letter to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in which he highlighted how the illegal immigration issue was affecting his district. He urged the White House to "close and secure the border."
