President-elect Donald Trump's victory last week likely means the revival of Alabama's prospects of landing the Space Command headquarters, according to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn).

The Biden administration overruled an earlier Trump administration decision to locate Space Command HQ in Huntsville for a location in Colorado.

During an appearance on Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," the state's senior U.S. Senator explained how to bring Space Command headquarters back to Alabama once Trump is sworn in.

"People asked me yesterday, said, 'Coach, what about Space Command?' He will give us Space Command, but here's the one thing I want to tell the people of Alabama: I'm for it going to the best place. But we know the best place is Huntsville, OK?" he said. "Because it was done the right way the first time. The president does not pick Space Command. Secretary of Air Force, the secretary of Air Force under Biden, even picked Huntsville two years ago and said, don't send it to Colorado, got to go to Huntsville. It's the best place. So that's where it's going to end up."

"But President Trump — he doesn't pull the trigger," Tuberville added. "That's what happens with the secretary of Air Force when we get a new one in. But there's going to be a lot of good things happen for Alabama. President Trump is huge for the state of Alabama."
