On Friday's episode of Huntsville WVNN's "The Dale Jackson Show," State Sen. Arthur Orr (R-Decatur) discussed the latest residency challenge to U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville's (R-Auburn) candidacy for governor.

According to Orr, the newly filed lawsuit is futile at best.

"A lot's going to depend on the judge," he said. "Montgomery Circuit Court [where the challenge has been filed] is a very Democrat friendly venue, and so therefore you have some challenges when you're in Montgomery Circuit Court. But as we know, if he loses there, then it would presumably go straight to the Alabama Supreme Court, and that would be a very favorable environment to the Republican nominee."

Added Orr, "With the tax returns and other pieces of evidence here in the last couple of weeks, the fat lady has sung on this thing, and we're moving forward now. There's still going to be challenges in this, but I think the ball is rolling, and they can't stop it, as far as the general election."

Orr noted Alabamians overwhelmingly voted for President Donald Trump in 2024 despite his legal issues, which could be good news for Tuberville.

"It's like Donald Trump. He's an indicted felon, and in 2024, he sweeps the state of Alabama by a huge margin. I think we kind of had the same attitude here," explained Orr. "We don't really care about the technical things. We've seen the tax returns, we've seen the evidence, and we're ready to move on and vote for the conservative."

The lawsuit was filed in the Montgomery Circuit Court on Wednesday on behalf of two veterans. Earlier this month, the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) unanimously denied a separate residency challenge from Ken McFeeters.
