
Nearly a full day after voting, the Alabama Republican Party officially announced the results of its deliberations, in which it deemed invalid a challenge filed against the party’s nominee for lieutenant governor, John Wahl.

For the second time this year, the Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) voted on Sunday not to have a full hearing on challenges to Lieutenant Governor nominee John Wahl’s candidacy based on accusations that he does not meet the state’s residency requirements.

On the deadline day, a Limestone County man has filed a challenge to the candidacy of John Wahl to be the Republican nominee for the state’s next lieutenant governor, saying he does not believe Wahl has been a resident of the state for the required seven years.

According to Orr, the newly filed effort to remove Tuberville from the November ballot is at best futile.
