Congressman Mike Rogers (R-AL03) accused the Biden administration of “forcing Americans” to pay high fuel prices. Rogers made the comments Friday on social media.

“The Biden administration wants to install their Green New Deal socialism by forcing Americans to pay sky-high prices at the gas station. Unreal,” Rogers said on his Facebook page.

Rogers was commenting on a Thursday CNN interview where White House economic adviser Brian Deese suggested the pain at the pump was a price Americans had to pay for the "future of the liberal world order.”

CNN’s Victor Blackwell asked Deese how the White House would respond to Americans worried that they won't be able to survive paying close to or over $5 a gallon, potentially for "years" to come.

"The military analysts, the Director of National Intelligence says this can be a long war measured in years," said Blackwell. "I think everybody understands why this is happening. But is it sustainable? What do you say to those families that say, 'Listen, we can't afford to pay $4.85 a gallon for months, if not years. This is just not sustainable."

Deese responded, "What you heard from the president today was a clear articulation of the stakes. This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm.”

The video has been played 1.4 million times on Twitter.

The White House is blaming the recent record-high fuel prices on Russia’s war in Ukraine, but Republicans are blaming the Biden administration's policies, particularly its energy policies, for the spike in fuel prices.

“Fifty-eight percent of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck, but Democrats have no solutions to slow the price increases caused by their own radical policies,” said House Minority Leader Kevin McCarty (R-California) recently. “America cannot afford another two ... years of one-party, Democrat rule in Washington.”

McCarthy promised to bring legislation to make America energy independent again if Republicans win back control of Congress in the Nov. 8 general election.

Deese recently told CNBC that the latest numbers “show some moderation on core inflation”

Mike Rogers is in his 10th term representing Alabama’s Third Congressional District.
