While prices are up across the board, the price of energy is seeing the greatest increase. This is resulting in higher prices at the gas pump, higher monthly power bills and higher natural gas bills for many Alabama families.
“Terri Sewell and the Democrats couldn’t prevent inflation or high gas prices, even though they control the House, Senate, AND the Presidency. Why should we think they have the answers now?” said Republican challenger Beatrice Nichols.
“We are talking about basic necessities like groceries, clothes, transportation. Families no longer have extra money to do things like go out to eat after Church or take a vacation. Soaring prices are impacting small business too," Sen. Tommy Tuberville said.
“Families are struggling to afford Biden's economy, doing everything from eating less meat to canceling vacations," Tuberville said,
“The Biden administration wants to install their Green New Deal socialism by forcing Americans to pay sky high prices at the gas station. Unreal,” Rep. Rogers said on his Facebook page.
“I was in Alabama all last weekend going around to restaurants and grocery stores. Inflation's out of control,” Tuberville claimed. “It's been growing for the last two years ever since he [Biden] took office,” said Sen. Tommy Tuberville.
“Instead of punishing those in the packing industry and deputizing bureaucrats to force more rules and regulations on the American people, we should be doing all we can to slice red tape, repair the broken supply chain, and end the federal government overspending fueling historic inflation,” Moore said.
On Tuesday the Commerce Department reported that retail and food service spending posted a 0.3% decline in May. Retail sales turned negative in May as consumers pulled back spending while inflation surged. Republican leaders have been critical of President Biden's economic policies, which they claim exacerbated the inflation especially soaring fuel prices.
