MONTGOMERY — Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen officially certified on Tuesday the results of the 2024 general election.
Few surprising results happened in the general election. President-elect Donald Trump won Alabama's nine electoral votes with 65%. Republicans won five congressional races and Democrats won two.
Turnout for the general election was the lowest in 36 years, according to unofficial totals.
"The thing I want to talk about is commending the probate judges, circuit clerks, boards of registrars, and all their poll workers for administering a fair, secure, transparent election," Allen told reporters on Tuesday. "Had a great election day and without those local election officials we wouldn't have elections. They're the ones who really do the hard work and the heavy lifting to make sure our elections are safe, secure, and transparent, all those things. As far as turnout, that's up to the voters to get out and go vote."
