Monday, following President Joe Biden's remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl called into question Democrats' fidelity to preserving democracy.

Pearl called the Democratic Party's late election cycle decision to remove Biden from the top of the ballot for Vice President Kamala Harris a "pitching change."

"So much for free and fair elections, saving our country and preserving freedom and democracy!" Pearl said in a post on X. "Joe Biden couldn't win so they made a pitching change! Joe Biden said only if he heard from God would he quit..well he heard from the same people who in 2020 relieved Bernie Sanders!"

Pearl's comments were a reaction to a video clip of CNN's Chris Wallace dismissing the claim Biden had made a "selfless" gesture to cede the nomination to Harris.
