Hundreds of items of Alabama's state surplus property will be up for bid in an online public auction from August 17 to 25, featuring used vehicles, computers, machinery, furniture, and more.

Surplus Property, a division of the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), will hold the auction through the online bidding site GovDeals.com from 7:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17 until 6 p.m. Sunday, August 25. Items up for auction include surplus state equipment along with items abandoned voluntarily by passengers at several southeastern U.S. airports. A listing of items can be seen beginning Saturday here.

Potential bidders can view items on site from Wednesday, August 21 through Friday, August 23 at the Surplus Property warehouse and grounds at 4590 Mobile Highway in Montgomery. Inspection times are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Bidders must be registered at GovDeals. Further information on the bidding process can be found here.

Surplus Property generally conducts quarterly auctions each year depending on the amount of surplus items. The warehouse in Montgomery and another one in Eva in Morgan County sell items throughout the year to other state agencies, municipalities, counties and qualified nonprofit organizations. Items not sold during specific periods are placed on auction.
