While Alabama continues to wait on the official announcement designating Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville the permanent home for Space Command headquarters, the FBI is reportedly set to move its National Academy training program for local, federal and international law enforcement from Quantico, Va., to the North Alabama city as well.

The state's two U.S. Senators, U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), recently toured Redstone Arsenal with FBI Director Kash Patel, who described the location as "one of the gems in the FBI crown jewels."

While speaking with members of the press on Thursday, Tuberville, who is running for governor of Alabama in 2026, described the training academy's move to the state as a "no-brainer."

"[I]t's going to be a big move," Tuberville said. "It's a no-brainer, OK? I was with Kash Patel at Redstone recently with Senator Britt. It's been great getting to know him and Dan Bongino over the last few years, but now that they're implementing their programs, it's obvious after Kash Patel came to Huntsville and saw what we have here, he's making even more adjustments to people here in Washington, D.C. moving them to places, most which are Huntsville. And our facilities are outstanding."

"Now, we are also, as we speak, building a training facility that had been in the plans for several years at the FBI offices there in Huntsville," he continued. "It's behind Redstone Arsenal. It is going to be first class, state-of-the-art. And where else to do that? [Quantico] has been the place where the FBI has trained in years past, but it was great to hear that after Kash Patel saw this situation, saw the facilities he had that were available, it's exciting that we're going to bring more people to Huntsville from the FBI plus be able to bring people - maybe not to live here permanently but to come and train for a certain amount of time and then go to other places across the country."

"Once again, Alabama is at the forefront of law enforcement, our military, and this is going to be a great move for our FBI," Tuberville concluded.
