U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) got into a back-and-forth on X Monday over the multi-day riots in Los Angeles over illegal alien deportations.
Tuberville criticized the governor for failing to quell the violence, going as far as to suggest Newsom be arrested, as President Donald Trump had publicly considered.
"Gavin Newsom has failed to do his job. LA looks like a third world country — anarchists are in charge, law enforcement is being attacked, and the rule of law is nonexistent. Lock him up," Tuberville posted on X.
Newsom responded, "Alabama has 3X the homicide rate of California. Its murder rate is ranked third in the entire country. Stick to football, bro."
Tuberville then doubled down on his condemnation of Newsom.
"You're burning Los Angeles to the ground to protect illegal aliens…. I would say stick to governing, but you CLEARLY aren't doing a very good job of that," Tuberville said on X.
