AUBURN — On Wednesday, before the This is the Turning Point Tour event at Auburn University, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) rebuked gender transition surgeries for minors, calling it an "evil" practice.
Alabama's senior U.S. Senator recently announced the Chloe Cole Act, which would codify President Donald Trump's recent executive order ending the United States' support of "transitioning" children. The bill specifically bans the chemical and surgical mutilation of children.
In a meeting with members of the press, Tuberville was asked about
"One word I would describe that: it's evil," he proclaimed. "I mean, there's no way that young people that are not of age should be able to make that decision. We have doctors that are at fault, we have surgeons at fault, we have people who are doing this at fault, and it's wrong."
"Now, once you get of age, and you want to make that decision, hey, it's a free country. Do what you want. But for young people to have these surgeries at 5,6,7 years old is a disaster, and it's going to come back to haunt us."
