U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) has proposed a new bill that would put non-citizens who vote in an American election on the fast track for deportation.

The Deport Illegal Voters Act would make unlawful voting by illegal aliens a felony subject to expedited deportation by adding it to the list of other federal crimes defined by the Immigration and Nationality Act.

"Anyone who is not an American citizen and casts a ballot in this election should be first in line to be deported," Strong said in a statement. "We must secure our elections and ensure participation in our elections is reserved for American citizens and American citizens only."

Against the backdrop of a "record number" of illegal border crossings into the United States seen under the Biden-Harris administration, Strong cited reports of non-citizens being issued voter registration forms and one instance of a Guatemalan national living in Alabama fraudulently voting multiple elections with a U.S. identification.

"Interference in our elections undermines the rights of American citizens and sets a dangerous precedent that could further erode the trust and credibility of our electoral system," a press release from Strong's office stated. "The integrity of our election system must be safeguarded to ensure only eligible and lawful voters are permitted to participate.

Strong added, "People should stop and think twice before interfering in our elections. The Deport Illegal Voters Act sets a consequence fitting for those committing a federal offense.
