A Ukrainian immigrant who killed two people in a Thomasville crash pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal negligent homicide.

Andrii Dmyterko was originally charged with an additional two counts of homicide by vehicle, but those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

According to the plea agreement, Dmyterko was sentenced to one year for each count to be served consecutively in the Clarke County Jail. The agreement gave him one year and 65 days of jail credit.

The fiery May 6, 2025 crash was caught on dashcam footage showing a commercial truck plowing through an intersection and striking multiple vehicles. The crash happened in Thomasville at the intersection of Highway 43 and South Industrial Park Drive.

Beloved Wilcox Academy coach Woodie Earl Beck III and Ashley Marie Springer were pronounced dead at the scene. A third woman was rescued from the fiery wreckage by bystanders.

Dmyterko, who was living in Pennsylvania at the time of the crash, was driving the 4 US Transportation Company truck. Court documents suggest Dmyterko was distracted by a cell phone.

There is a federal immigration hold on Dmyterko, and the state conviction does not exempt him from deportation proceedings.

Civil lawsuits have been filed in the case.
