New video shows a shooting that happened Monday night in Gulf Shores. Police were first called to the area of The Hangout and Gulf Place around 8:51 p.m. A suspect was taken into custody, and one victim was transported to the hospital. The suspect is a 21-year-old male and the victim is a juvenile male, police confirmed.

In the video, which has been shared on social media, you can see a person firing shots and people running.

The shooter then runs to a bush where it appears he attempted to hide the firearm.

Emily Clendenin, a junior from Springville, was in Gulf Shores for Spring Break when the shooting happened.

"We had no idea what was happening," said Clendenin. "We saw people crowding on the sidewalks, and everyone was running across the street. People were running to the back of the Hangout, and some were running into the kitchen to get out."

Clendenin said the shooting happened right in front of the Gulf Place building, close to the entrance. First responders worked on the victim until the ambulance arrived on the scene, according to Clendenin. Police said the victim is now in stable condition. Another witness told 1819 News she was only five feet from the shooting when it happened. Katie Shaw claimed a male suspect pulled a gun and began firing after a fight broke out.

"I looked back, and there was like a fight going on with a bunch of girls, and then next thing I know, a guy pulls a gun and fires six rounds, Shaw said. "... He was right beside me. The gun was right at me."

Clendenin said she witnessed the suspect being put in handcuffs by Gulf Shores Police. She said the quick response made her feel safe.

"I mean, they were there in no time," she said. "It was very well handled. The police showed up really, really fast, and the police had it under control. It was so quick. They have really good police, so we felt safe."

Multiple agencies, including the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, Gulf Shores Fire and Rescue, and the Orange Beach Police Department, responded to the scene.

Gulf Shores public information officer Nick Corcoran said the shooting happened during a physical altercation between several people.
