MOBILE — Interim Mobile Police Chief William Jackson addressed gun violence Tuesday following four recent shootings.
Three of the shootings happened at apartment complexes, and the fourth happened outside a convenience store.
“While several incidents were domestic-related, any violence that occurs in our city will not be tolerated,” Jackson said. “If found taking part in any of these senseless acts, those involved will be held accountable for their actions.”
Jackson said people living in apartment complexes, including women and children, should feel safe at home and should not have to hear gunfire.
“Innocent individuals can easily get caught in the crossfire, with stray bullets causing property damage, serious injuries, or worse in these populated places,” he added. “It’s imperative that we settle our arguments in a peaceful way. We take these crimes seriously, and I assure you the men and women of the Mobile Police Department will continue to work diligently as we combat these matters.”
Jackson has been the police chief since Paul Prine was placed on administrative leave in April.
