U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) joined Fox Business Network on Monday afternoon to discuss the election of Zohran Mamdani as New York's next mayor and the anticipated resistance against the Muslim socialist's agenda.
According to Tuberville, havoc could soon befall America's largest city due to Mamdani's policies. However, the senator expects pushback not only from President Donald Trump but also from Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.
"Destruction is going to be everywhere with the socialism and communism coming to the gateway of freedom," Tuberville said on "The Evening Edit." "New York has brought in millions of people. The opportunity that's been given there. But I think he's going to get challenged by the governor there, Kathy Hochul, and our president, Donald Trump."
Tuberville criticized Mamdani's supporters, arguing that they voted for the Ugandan native out of spite for Trump and a desire for "free everything."
"Now, again, they want socialism. They want free stuff, free food, free everything," Tuberville argued. "That's not going to happen. We're hopefully going to be able to save New York, but it's going to be hard. We're going to have a challenge on our hands, and hopefully President Trump can set him back a little bit with all the federal money that he's supposed to get."

The lawmaker stressed that Trump will soon place "so much pressure" on Mamdani to keep him from going "full on communist."
"Well, first of all, that's not going to happen. The President's going to put so much pressure on him," Tuberville argued. "The people probably will start protesting him in a very short period of time, because they're expecting everything possible to make it easier for them in their life where they don't have to work work, don't have to go to don't have to go to work and work at home, do the things that they need to do to make it easier for them."
"This is not an easy life. You got to get out there and work and earn your right to live in this country and not tear our country down for everybody else. We're not going to allow that to happen," he added.
Mamdani, a member of the New York State Assembly, defeated former Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa to become the city's youngest and first-ever Muslim mayor in history. Mamdani reportedly earned 50.4% of the vote while Cuomo garnered 41.6%. Silwa finished a distant third with 7.1%.
