
Baldwin County Sheriff Anthony Lowery won his first election Tuesday after a battle against Baldwin County Commissioner Matt McKenzie.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall said he hasn’t made an official endorsement in the Baldwin County Sheriff’s race, but he was able to see what Sheriff Anthony Lowery has done since being appointed sheriff by Gov. Kay Ivey and Marshall said he is impressed.

Baldwin County Sheriff Anthony Lowery and his opponent for the 2026 election, Baldwin County Commissioner Matt McKenzie, faced off Thursday in a forum.

The two candidates vying for sheriff of Baldwin County will come together on September 11 to discuss their vision for the future.

Governor-appointed Baldwin County Sheriff Anthony Lowery will seek a full term as sheriff. Lowery made the announcement Monday.
