At their first regularly scheduled meeting, the Hoover City Council, Mayor Nick Derzis, and Charlie Waldrep, the city attorney, emphasized the city’s renewed dedication to transparency.

The atmosphere in the Hoover High School performing arts center, as hundreds gathered to swear in Nick Derzis for mayor and the seven city council members, was lively and hopeful, with the focus on the city's future.

When Nick Derzis launched his campaign, it was with a message of optimism and a promise to “Make Hoover Hoover Again.”

In an exclusive interview with 1819 News before his press event, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis kept a positive and hopeful tone saying, “I am announcing my candidacy for mayor of our great city."
