
The Islamic Academy of Alabama has formally withdrawn its rezoning application to the City of Hoover. While the Planning and Zoning Board voted last week to recommend that the Hoover City Council deny the application, ultimately, it would have been up to the council at their January 2026 meeting.

In an interview with Infowars host Breanna Morello, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) reiterated his opposition to the move and expansion of the Islamic School of Alabama.

The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission voted to forward the request for the Islamic Academy of Alabama and Muslim prayer center with a recommendation that they deny the request.

After requesting two cancellations, the Islamic Academy of Alabama's proposal to move from their current location in Homewood to Hoover's Meadowbrook Corporate Park is back on the agenda for the Monday Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

Hours before the Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission was scheduled to take up an application for a zoning change that would allow the Islamic Academy of Alabama to relocate to the Meadowbrook Corporate Park, word began to spread of a delay because the applicant formally requested a continuance.

According to notices sent out in the Meadowbrook neighborhood of Hoover, the Islamic Academy of Alabama has resubmitted its application for a zoning change that would have allowed it to relocate from Homewood to Meadowbrook Corporate Park. The issue will be taken up by the Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission on October 6, at 6pm.
