I attended Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit this past weekend in Tampa. It was delightful to see so many young conservative patriots (over 5,000) in attendance, willing to stand up for our God-given freedoms and rights, the values our founders established for our country, which are secured by the U.S. Constitution.
I had the opportunity to participate in a breakout session with County Citizens Defending Freedom (CCDF). I serve on their national board. CCDF is an organization that empowers and equips American citizens to defend their freedoms and liberties at the local level. For those students who attended the breakout session, they found the solution to the conservative messaging dilemma they had long sought.
Afterward, in fact, during the entire weekend, I conversed with so many students who would like an effective post-event messaging strategy. They want to return to their homes, high schools and college campuses to successfully trump the race card, better defend their conservative point of view and ignite a passion for liberty with those they encounter.
I wholeheartedly agree. After the rally is over, how do we use the energy and excitement to engage others with the passion for liberty? How can we bring to life our common values to restore what it means to be an American?
The answer of course is the leveraging of the Frederick Douglass Republican Engagement Strategy, which includes Douglass’ 12-Life-Empowering Values:
(1) Respect for the U.S. Constitution, (2) Respect for Life, (3) Belief in the Limited Power of Government, (4) Belief in Personal Responsibility, (5) Economic Prosperity, (6) Education-Parental Choice, (7) Women's Rights, (8) The Right to Keep and Bear Arms, (9) Free Speech, (10) Religious Liberty; (11) Immigration; and (12) The Right to Vote.
Conservatives, particularly young people, must be empowered and equipped to leverage the Frederick Douglass Republican Engagement Strategy, inspiring others to embrace the shared values that make America great. Douglass is America’s greatest writer, orator and thinker about the U.S. Constitution, liberty and the values I mentioned above.
Conservatives become better messengers of liberty when they leverage the Life-Empowering Values of Frederick Douglass.
I cannot say this enough. Marxist-Liberal Democrats have no answer for Douglass' liberty message and they never will. No matter which victim category the Left tries to put people in, no American can out-victimize Douglass nor can they refute his liberty message.
