The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) is applauding what it considers to be a “sweeping victory” this week after flipping 40 seats in state races during Tuesday’s election.
President-elect Donald Trump stole headlines after winning a sweeping victory on Tuesday, claiming the Electoral College and the popular vote to win the presidency.
Although the state lost a once-Republican congressional seat due to a federally mandated redrawing of the state’s lines, ALGOP still took time to celebrate its victories in the state flipping 40 seats, as well as efforts in other states to back GOP candidates.
ALGOP laid much of its success during Tuesday’s election on its efforts reaching out to minority communities, which the party claims resulted in record-breaking Republican support with Alabama’s Latino and African American voters.
"The Alabama Republican Party has worked with purpose and commitment, not only in securing wins here at home, but also in leading national volunteer and election integrity efforts," said ALGOP chairman John Wahl. "Our historic success speaks to the dedication of our volunteers and the faith voters have placed in our commitment to defending the American dream and family values".
ALGOP also boasted of grassroots efforts that extended beyond Alabama’s borders, with volunteers knocking on over 100,000 doors across Georgia and North Carolina.
ALGOP conducted over a million phone calls and text messages to reach voters, sent over 100 different mailers to more than half a million households. It also supported candidates with billboards, radi and TV ads.
“We are incredibly proud of our team and volunteers who poured their time and energy into reaching voters with our message of freedom, fiscal responsibility, secure boarders, and protecting our children from radical agendas,” Wahl continued. “The Alabama Republican Party still believes in commonsense and serving the people. That’s what our message is all about – it’s time to put the people of America first again. This election season showcased the power of committed grassroots action, both here in Alabama and in key battleground states.”
